AceShowbiz - Ice-T took time to respond to a viewer who criticized his show, "Law and Order: SVU". The 66-year-old rapper and actor took to his X account to reply to a fan who accused the series of going "woke."
It started after Ice-T posted a photo of his daughter Chanel, whom he shares with wife Coco, hilariously crashing the set during filming of season 26. The snap prompted one user to ask, "Did they write SVU back to normal yet? It started to go woke."
The comment didn't go unnoticed by Ice-T. He immediately responded, "What the F is woke? lol Like I give a F**k." The exchange went viral soon as it garnered more than 5.6 million views.
Not stopping there, Ice-T, who plays the role of detective Odafin Tutuola on the series since 2000, reposted an article that reported on the interaction. Poking at the matter, he joked, "Oh S**t… Fd around and went Viral… lol. #FLTG."
Last year, Ice-T reflected on working on the long-running procedural series. Speaking to Variety, he said, "To be on a show this long, is like having gone to Harvard and grad school and getting my Ph.D, because every day I'm acting."
The star also noted that it gave him confidence to work alongside any actor and A-list celebrity. "I know whatever they can bring, I can bring right back at them...Working with F. Murray Abraham, he told me to learn from the actors I work with and that's the best training," he explained. "That's where I'm going to get my stuff. So now, I've worked with everybody from Jerry Lewis to Bradley Cooper. They all come through the doors of SVU and I learn something from every one of them."
Ice-T additionally discussed his role on the show. "'I'm not a cop. I'm the furthest thing from a cop," he said. "People have said that our television shows are police propaganda, making the police look good. I understand that argument."
"The cop I am on our show is an SVU detective…When I got the job at SVU, Dick Wolf said to me, 'Ice, you don't like cops, right?' I told him that during my criminal past, I didn't hate cops - they were my opponents," he continued. "[He asked,] 'But you admit we need them, right?' I said, 'Yeah.' So, Wolf told me to play the cop that we need. And if I play the cop that we need, I won't have any problems with it."
