AceShowbiz - On the second night of the DNC, Lil Jon, a native of Atlanta, ascended the stage as Georgia's delegation prepared to announce its votes. With the music of "Turn Down for What" reverberating throughout the arena, he announced, "We are here tonight to officially nominate Kamala Harris for president."
As the chorus of the song filled the venue, Lil Jon led the crowd in a chant of "We're not going back!" and then transitioned to his classic hit "Get Low", modifying the lyrics to "VP Harris to the Walz!" Georgia's delegates then cast their 123 votes for Harris, solidifying her nomination for president.
Lil Jon's surprise performance was part of a roll call ceremony that featured musical tributes to each state.
In addition to Lil Jon, other notable musicians graced the DNC stage on day two. Patti LaBelle performed her hit "You Are My Friend" during the "in memoriam" segment, while Common performed his song "Fortunate" with altered lyrics to honor Harris.
The second night of the DNC featured speeches from former President Barack Obama, former First Lady Michelle Obama, and other prominent figures. Harris herself took over the nomination from President Joe Biden, who had addressed the convention on the opening night.
