Just because the spark may be dimming for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck doesn't mean they aren't focusing on making the most of their summer with their families.

AceShowbiz - It's been a summer of ups and downs for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck, whose second wedding anniversary in July passed without celebration. The couple has reportedly been spending time apart, which started to draw attention as early as May when sources noted they were living separately.

However, Lopez, 55, was recently seen visiting Affleck's rental home in Brentwood on August 11, aiming to spend quality time with his children before school starts.

According to a PEOPLE source, Lopez accompanied Affleck's 12-year-old son Samuel to the mall earlier that day. Lopez, who herself has 16-year-old twins, Max and Emme, with ex-husband Marc Anthony, reportedly cares deeply for Affleck's children - Violet, 18, Seraphina, 15, and Samuel.

"Just because she's not with Ben doesn't mean that she doesn't care about his kids," shared the source. "She always cared about them. Now when she's back in L.A., she wants to spend quality time with them before school resumes and Violet is off to college."

Affleck, who turns 52 on August 15, has also been focusing on his work and children. An insider told PEOPLE that he "thrives when he's busy, and he's been working nonstop." He recently finished filming "The Accountant 2" and is set to star alongside Matt Damon in a Netflix crime thriller titled "RIP."

The summer hasn't been the easiest for Affleck either. He is reportedly trying to make every day as good as possible, despite the challenges. "He spends a lot of time with them too," said the insider, referring to his children. "He's just trying to stay focused and make every day as good as possible."

Meanwhile, Lopez has been enjoying her summer amidst the chaos. "She's been off and able to focus on what's next. She's enjoyed spending time with her kids, family, and friends. She always has a good attitude even when things are not perfect," said a source. Though she cancelled her summer concert tour to spend more time with her family, she's gearing up for her next project, the movie "Unstoppable," set to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September.

The relationship between Lopez and Affleck is currently a subject of speculation, as neither has publicly commented on their marriage's status. Despite this, both stars seem committed to their children and careers, making sure that family time and professional work remain at the forefront of their lives.
