AceShowbiz - Jessica Capshaw, known for her roles on "Grey's Anatomy" and "The Practice", has spoken out against the excessive photo editing that is prevalent in Hollywood. In a recent episode of her podcast "Call It What It Is", the actress shared her shocking experience with being heavily retouched for a billboard advertisement.
Capshaw was featured in a group photo for the Western miniseries "Into the West". She recalled feeling confident about the original images, only to be horrified when she saw the billboard version. Her body had been "stretched" and altered, giving her a completely different appearance.
"They gave me an Avatar body," she said, referring to the exaggerated body proportions. "I didn't dislike it, but it just is not my body."
Other aspects of her appearance were also significantly altered. Her lips were enlarged and reshaped, her hair was given more volume, and her nose was completely changed.
Capshaw expressed concern over how these unrealistic depictions of beauty can impact society. As a parent, she believes it's crucial for individuals to have a positive self-image and to challenge body insecurities.
"It's really, really important that you're kind to yourself and that you acknowledge the thought," she said. "It's like, 'Okay, I'm doing that thing, like I'm looking at that person, and I'm thinking I wish that I look like them... I'm gonna feel that and then I'm gonna dismiss that thought.'"
