AceShowbiz - Lily Allen, the English singer-songwriter, has candidly discussed her relationship with education on her podcast, "Miss Me?" hosted with close friend Miquita Oliver. Allen revealed that she left school at 15 without any formal qualifications, a fact that continues to haunt her.
"I'm not educated," Allen confessed. "I don't even have one GCSE." She admitted to feeling ashamed and spiral into self-hatred when others discussed their higher learning.
Oliver questioned if additional education would make a difference at this stage, but Allen suggested it might have led her down different career paths. "I might have thought, 'I'm gonna be a lawyer,'" she said, particularly after the heartbreaking loss of her son, George. Allen expressed an interest in midwifery but felt discouraged by the lack of qualifications she held.
Allen also discussed the embarrassment she felt at the thought of pursuing an education alongside younger students. "I was already in my mid-30s. I didn't wanna do that," she explained.
While Allen acknowledged that her lack of formal education influenced her life, she emphasized her determination to pursue her passions regardless. Despite feeling inadequate at times, she stated, "I'm a self-made woman. I'm proud of what I've achieved."
