AceShowbiz - A24 is poised to deliver a star-studded cinematic experience with its next film "The Drama". In early negotiations to headline the project are Zendaya Coleman and Robert Pattinson, two of Hollywood's most sought-after actors. Helming "The Drama" is Kristoffer Borgli, the acclaimed filmmaker behind "Dream Scenario".
While plot details remain under tight wraps, whispers suggest that the movie will be a romantic story that takes an unexpected and thrilling turn before the couple's wedding day. If Borgli's previous work is any indication, audiences should brace themselves for a narrative that skillfully blends the comedic and the sinister. Deadline first reported the news.
The production of "The Drama" will be managed by A24, continuing its successful collaboration with Ari Aster's Square Peg banner. Past partnerships between A24 and Square Peg have produced notable films like "Hereditary", "Midsommar" and "Dream Scenario". They also have upcoming features such as "Death of a Unicorn" starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, and "Eddington" with Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal and Emma Stone.
Zendaya has had a momentous year, starring in blockbusters like "Dune: Part Two" and "Challengers". Both films have garnered critical and commercial success, with "Dune: Part Two" grossing over $700 million worldwide. She's also set to reprise her Emmy and Golden Globe-winning role as Rue Bennett in the third season of HBO's "Euphoria", which will begin filming in early 2025.
Meanwhile, Robert Pattinson is poised for another transformative role in "Mickey 17", Bong Joon-ho’s first project since the Oscar-winning "Parasite". The film is slated for release in January 2025. Pattinson's recent credits also include his portrayal of Bruce Wayne in "The Batman" and voicing the Grey Heron in the English-language dub of Hayao Miyazaki's "The Boy and the Heron".
Borgli, whose direction in "Dream Scenario" was highly praised by critics, will both write and direct "The Drama". The collaboration has generated significant buzz, particularly after Zendaya expressed strong interest in the project, prompting Pattinson to follow suit. A24 is reportedly prioritizing the finalization of deals, eager to bring this compelling story to life.
Zendaya is represented by CAA and Monster Talent Management, while Pattinson is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment, WME, Curtis Brown, and Sloane, Offer, Weber and Dern. Kristoffer Borgli is represented by UTA, with Square Peg being represented by WME.
