AceShowbiz - Marvel's ever-expanding universe is about to get a riveting new addition with the upcoming "Spider-Man Noir" live-action series. Set to premiere domestically on MGM+ and globally on Prime Video, the show promises to deliver a unique superhero narrative that combines the gritty allure of the 1930s with the compelling drama of classic noir. The excitement has been amplified with the latest announcement that Li Jun Li of "Wu Assassins" fame is joining the star-studded cast.
The series will feature Nicolas Cage in the lead role of an aging and disillusioned private investigator who grapples with his past as New York City's sole superhero. Lamorne Morris, known for his work in "New Girl" and the critically acclaimed "Fargo," takes on the role of Robbie Robertson, a longstanding supporting character in the Spider-Man universe. The talented Brendan Gleeson is also set to appear in an unspecified villainous role.
Directed by Emmy Award-winning Harry Bradbeer of "Fleabag" and "Killing Eve" fame, "Spider-Noir" is poised to captivate audiences with its eight-episode narrative. The series is developed by co-showrunners and executive producers Oren Uziel ("The Lost City," "22 Jump Street") and Steve Lightfoot ("Marvel's The Punisher," "Shantaram").
Additionally, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the visionaries behind "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse," along with Sony's Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal, will contribute as executive producers.
Li Jun Li, who will portray a singer at New York's premier nightclub, is no stranger to high-profile projects. She recently wrapped filming for the female lead in Paramount Pictures' "Alma and the Wolf" and is currently working on an untitled film with Ryan Coogler and Michael B. Jordan for Warner Bros. Her television credits include recurring roles in popular series like Peacock's "Based on a True Story" and Netflix's "Florida Man" and "Sex/Life."
Recently, Lamorne Morris expressed genuine excitement when discussing his role, stating it was on his "bucket list…to play a character in a world that is not necessarily real, opposite actors who are veteran OGs that can teach you a thing or two, that you could be on set learning while performing." He emphasized the unique blend of comic book lore and live-action, adding, "It's Nick Cage, Brendan Gleeson. So, being a part of that group is a bucket list thing for sure."
As production progresses, anticipation continues to build for "Spider-Noir." The series is set to premiere on MGM+'s linear channel and be available to stream globally on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories. Marvel enthusiasts and fans of the cast can expect an exhilarating journey back to 1930s New York, coupled with the timeless thrill of superhero drama.
