Rosa Doherty remembers her late daughter and acknowledges the love and support from fans of the actress in the wake of Shannen's passing from breast cancer at 53.

AceShowbiz - Two days after the loss of her daughter, Rosa Doherty, Shannen Doherty's mother, shared a heartfelt statement. Rosa recalled the actress as "my beautiful girl and my heart." She expressed gratitude to the many who had supported Shannen throughout her life, stating, "Our family wants to thank everyone who has shown love and support for our Shannen throughout her life. We are truly appreciative."
Shannen Doherty, diagnosed with breast cancer in 2015, had been fighting the disease for years. In 2020, she announced that her cancer had returned as metastatic stage 4. Sadly, on July 13, she succumbed to the illness, surrounded by loved ones.
Doherty, known for her roles on "Beverly Hills, 90210" and "Charmed", had previously spoken about her mother's strength and its impact on her. In a 2023 interview, she said, "I come from a woman who was determined. She impressed that upon me as a very young child like, 'You don't give up. You just have to work hard at it.' "
During her health struggles, Doherty had expressed concern for her mother, prioritizing making things easier for her in her absence. In an episode of her podcast "Let's Be Clear", she said, "I want other things to be a lot easier. I don't want her to have a bunch of stuff to deal with. I don't want her to have four storage units filled with furniture."
In the statement to PEOPLE, Doherty's mother has acknowledged the outpouring of support the family has received, expressing their sincere gratitude to all who have shown their love and compassion during this difficult time.
