Weston Cage, the 33-year-old son of Academy Award-winning actor Nicolas Cage, was taken into police custody on Wednesday morning, July 10 for an alleged "brutal assault" on his mother, Christina Fulton.
According to Fulton, Weston was experiencing a mental health episode on April 28 when she arrived to help. She alleges that he then assaulted her, causing serious injuries to her left eye and cheek.
Despite requests from Fulton for the responding police officers to detain Weston for a mental health evaluation, they reportedly refused and neglected her medical attention.
A photo of Fulton shows the extent of her injuries. Weston was released on $150,000 bail after his arrest. It is believed that Nicolas Cage paid the bail.
This arrest is not Weston's first encounter with law enforcement. In 2011, he was arrested twice for domestic violence charges involving his ex-wife, Nikki Williams. In 2017, he was arrested for DUI and a hit-and-run after allegedly crashing into multiple objects and fleeing the scene.
Fulton expressed concern about Weston's mental health crisis and called for him to receive the help he needs. A source close to the family stated that they had anticipated such an incident.
