The 'Machete' actor admits he's 'sad' because of his behavior and because people threw water balloons during the parade, but insists that he wouldn't confront them if he wasn't provoked.

AceShowbiz - Danny Trejo has spoken up on a 4th of July brawl that was caught on camera. Sharing his side of the story, the American actor of Mexican descent claimed that he was targeted by water balloon throwers because of his race.

Danny and his friend, who was involved in the brawl, sat down for an interview with TMZ that was published on Friday, July 5. In a video, the "Machete" star admitted, "I'm so sad that I behaved the way I behaved."

He, however, blamed those who threw water balloons at him for his action, saying, "I'm so sad that grown men gotta throw water balloons to enjoy a day. I don't think I would even get out of the car. If somebody had yelled, 'It's acid,' you know. I got panicked."

The 80-year-old continued that when he got out of the car, a guy grabbed him. "I stepped back and I fell off the curb," he said, insisting that "no one else was targeted."

When asked if they were targeted because they were Mexicans in a nice car, Danny's friend interjected, "It was targeting. There was nobody else getting hit with balloons in front of us or behind us. Come on you got a classic low rider on a parade. The last thing you want is to get water on it. Or anything on it."

The friend also shared that the video didn't show people stomping on him when they restrained him. Danny went on stressing, "I would be embarrassed if I attacked an 80-year-old man and he's still talking and laughing."

Danny was involved in a scuffle during the Sunland-Tujunga 4th of July Parade in California on Thursday. A new video obtained by TMZ showed him sitting shotgun in a convertible when someone on the street pelted him with a water balloon. Furious, Danny jumped out of the car and stomped up to a group of people in tents on a sidewalk, zeroing in on the suspected culprit.

Suddenly, Danny punched the individual, causing water to splash everywhere and a melee to ensue. The "Spy Kids" star was knocked down, but he got right back up and grabbed a chair, tossing it into the mob. The fight eventually broke up as Danny retreated into the street with some friends.

But then someone threw another water balloon at Danny, showering his head with water. Danny's friend held him back so he wouldn't start punching again. The crowd dispersed before police officers could arrive on the scene. Consequently, no arrests were made.
