AceShowbiz - Mary-Kate Olsen and Sean Avery are not rekindling their romance. The pair, who were first linked nearly two decades ago, are reportedly "just friends" despite reignited dating rumors.

"Mary-Kate and Sean have been friends since 2006, they had a fling for a while in 2007 and have remained friends," a source told Us Weekly. "They see each other every summer in The Hamptons, but they're just friends."

The source added that the speculation might have been fueled by Mary-Kate and Sean's single status. "They're both single right now, so there's a possibility they could hook up again," the insider notes. "But they seem like platonic friends when they're together, as they have for a while."

Mary-Kate and Avery sparked romance reconciliation rumors after they were spotted together over Memorial Day weekend in New York's the Hamptons. In pictures obtained by DeuxMoi, the fashion designer and the former professional ice hockey player were seen stopping by her new The Row store in Amagansett.

The duo reportedly also went to visit their mutual friend, Andy Cohen. For their outing, the businesswoman wore a red tunic and a brown jacket. She also bundled up with a scarf and beanie and added a pair of sunglasses. The athlete, meanwhile, kept it casual in grey joggers, a black hoodie and backwards baseball cap.

Mary-Kate and Sean were romantically linked in 2007 but never confirmed a relationship. The two remained friends thoug, and were last pictured together in 2011 at an event in New York City.

Mary-Kate has been private about her love life over the years. She was last linked to businessman John Cooper, who began dating one month after she finalized her divorce from Olivier Sarkozy in January 2021. As for Sean, Avery, he was married to model Hilary Rhoda from October 2015 to July 2022.
