AceShowbiz - Mama June a.k.a. June Shannon has found herself in hot water following her revelation about getting weight loss injections. The "Mama June: From Not to Hot" star garnered negative responses from social media users after blaming taking care of her late daughter, Anna Cardwell, for her weight gain.
On Tuesday, April 16, the 44-year-old reality TV star uploaded on her Instagram page a video, in which she shared her weight loss injections journey. Over the clip, she wrote, "Come along with me on my Semaglutide journey week 1."
In the footage, Mama June, who successfully shed 355 pounds after undergoing gastric sleeve surgery nearly one decade ago, explained, "Since [the procedure], I kinda kept off the weight. I stayed at like 130, 140, 150 lbs. Well, I have noticed over the last, like, year and a half, that I've really put on weight."
Mama June went on to claim that she gained weight due to a very challenging year when she took care of Anna a.k.a Chickadee, who passed away of cancer in December 2023. She stated, "With the stress of everything going in, eating out, not eating right, just all kinds of stuff, I have packed on about 120, 130 pounds."
In the video, Mama June also noted that she attempted to undergo weight loss surgery around one year ago and "tried to cut back on my eating." However, she then pointed out, "Nothing was actually helping."
The TV personality continued, "I decided to go to semaglutide a couple months ago through my main doctor." She further spilled, "Monday, this is what I look like. So guys I'm starting out at 267 pounds, let's see how much weight I can lose."
It did not take long for the post to be flooded with criticisms from Instagram users. In the comments section, one in particular complained, "June you gained that weight way before Anna got sick." Another wrote, "Must be nice to be able to pay for this medicine for weight loss. Meanwhile there is a shortage for people who need it for diabetes."
Meanwhile, other users commented on her appearance. One of them asked, "SOMEONE ANYONE, PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS ON HER EYE? I HAVE BEEN WONDERING THAT FOR YEARS. HER RIGHT EYE." Another urged, "Stop and get your eyelashes done on the way."
