Luke Combs has emerged as the leading artist for the upcoming 59th Academy of Country Music Awards with an impressive eight nominations. The singer-songwriter is contending for major categories, including Entertainer of the Year, Album of the Year, Song of the Year, and Single of the Year.
Megan Moroney and Morgan Wallen, who is facing backlash after being arrested for recklessly throwing a chair from the roof of a six-story building, followed close behind with six nominations each, solidifying their status as prominent figures in the country music landscape.
Other notable artists receiving multiple nominations include Cody Johnson, Chris Stapleton, and Lainey Wilson, all of whom are in the running for the top honor of Entertainer of the Year. Notably, first-time nominee Jelly Roll earned four nods, including a nomination for Entertainer of the Year, reflecting the rising popularity of his music.
Among the nominations, Tracy Chapman received her first-ever ACM nomination for her writing in "Fast Car," which Luke Combs covered and released as a successful single. The eligibility period for the awards covered 2023, explaining the absence of recent releases such as Beyonce Knowles' "Cowboy Carter" album.
The 59th ACM Awards will be presented on May 16, 2024, at the Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The ceremony will be streamed live exclusively on Prime Video.
Other notable nominations in various categories include Kelsea Ballerini, Zach Bryan, ERNEST, Kacey Musgraves, and Old Dominion. The awards also saw the return of the New Duo or Group of the Year award, with nominations going to Neon Union, Restless Road, and Tigirlily Gold.
Along with the main awards, the 59th ACM Awards also presented nominations for the ACM Studio Recording Awards and Industry Awards. These awards honor achievements in production, engineering, and other industry roles. Winners will be announced at the 17th Academy of Country Music Honors in August in Nashville.
