If a new report is to be believed, the sexual harassment accusations against the actor are the 'catalyst' for the couple's decision to go separate ways after 14 years of marriage.

AceShowbiz - Rebel Wilson's damning allegations against Sacha Baron Cohen played a role in Sacha and his wife Isla Fisher's divorce. If a new report is to be believed, the sexual harassment accusations are the "catalyst" for the couple's divorce announcement.

A source told The Sun that Isla was "starting to get embarrassed" about the claims in Rebel's memoir "Rebel Rising", in which Rebel accused Sacha of pressuring her to be naked for "The Brothers Grimsby" though the actor denied the claims. Isla allegedly wanted to protect her "own career and reputation."

"Rebel's book was a catalyst in Isla deciding to announce this to the world," noted the insider. "She's got her own career and reputation to worry about. So she felt as though it was the right thing to do to inform everyone of their decision."

As for the "Borat" actor, he allegedly was against announcing their divorce. "He did not want that. He has been making as though it's business as usual before they made this announcement," the source explained.

A second source, meanwhile, revealed that the pair "have been having difficulties for some time and have battled to make things work. They didn't want to throw their love away for the sake of their family. Privately, though, friends were made aware."

It continued, "They went to great lengths to keep things 'business as usual' on social media so as to control the narrative in a way they both felt comfortable with." The informant further revealed that the decision to split "wasn't taken lightly and they remain incredibly close," adding that "there's still a lot of love there."

Sacha and Isla, who married in Paris in 2010, announced their split after 14 years of marriage in a joint statement shared on Instagram on Friday, April 5. "After a long tennis match lasting over twenty years, we are finally putting our racquets down. In 2023 we jointly filed to end our marriage," their joint statement read.

"We have always prioritized our privacy, and have been quietly working through this change. We forever share in our devotion and love for our children. We sincerely appreciate your respecting our family’s wish for privacy," it continued.
