AceShowbiz - At the 2024 iHeartRadio Music Awards, JoJo Siwa showcased her striking new look, paying homage to rock and roll legends KISS. The former "Dance Moms" star donned a revealing black and silver bodysuit, complete with a faux hawk, star-shaped eye makeup, and black lipstick.
Tori Spelling was among those who admired Siwa's bold transformation. "We bonded over my kiddos, and I've loved watching your journey and you kick ass!" Spelling wrote on Instagram.
Despite facing criticism for her rebrand, Gene Simmons of KISS also praised Siwa's edgy persona. "JoJo is cool. Anybody who doesn't get it is just jealous," he told TMZ. "Never be ordinary. Always be extraordinary. JoJo is extraordinary and she looks cool."
Ahead of the release of her new single, "Karma," on Friday, Siwa has been previewing it with clips and snippets. The song features cursing and lyrics hinting at a past relationship. Siwa has also experimented with her style, wearing a bedazzled catsuit resembling Britney Spears for the music video.
Despite the mixed reactions, Siwa remains confident in her new direction. "Things can be scary for people. New things can be very, very scary," she told E! News on the iHeartRadio red carpet. "But the way that I’m able to keep going is because some of the most respected people in the world have come up to me and been like, ‘What you’re doing right now is so right. It is what the world needs, and I’m learning from what you are doing right now.'"
According to Deadline, KISS has sold their publishing, recording royalties, and trademarks to Swedish company Pophouse. The deal includes plans for a Pophouse-produced KISS virtual show using technology similar to the successful ABBA Voyage virtual concert residency in London.
