The brother of Super Bowl champion Vernon Davis is announced to have passed away at the age of 35 after officers responded to a medical call in a Florida home.

AceShowbiz - Vontae Davis, a former NFL cornerback and brother of Super Bowl champion Vernon Davis, was found dead at the age of 35 on Monday morning, April 1 in a Southwest Ranches, Florida home owned by his grandmother.

According to the Davie Police Department, officers responded to a medical call made by a "house assistant" who discovered Davis deceased. Preliminary information suggests no foul play.

Davis, a 10-season NFL veteran, played for the Miami Dolphins, Indianapolis Colts, and Buffalo Bills. He earned two Pro Bowl nods during his time with the Colts and famously announced his retirement in 2018 during a game between the Bills and Los Angeles Chargers.

Colts owner Jim Irsay expressed sadness over Davis' passing, calling him "a great guy, teammate, [and] player."

Former Illini assistant basketball coach Chester Frazier also mourned Davis, stating, "RIP to @vontaedavis man nothing but good memories of that dude in school!!! Praying for the Davis family!!"

Miami Dolphins cornerback Vladimir Moise confirmed Davis' death while former coach Bret Bielema recalled Davis' "passion" and "intensity" as a player at the University of Illinois.

No cause of death has been released pending an autopsy. However, in February 2023, Davis was charged with driving under the influence after crashing his Tesla into a disabled truck in Broward County, Florida. He reportedly appeared asleep at the side of the road and struggled to stay conscious after being placed into a patrol vehicle.
