"I'm happily married. I love my wife and we have a beautiful daughter… She was 19 when we got married, she was 18 when we started dating," he continued explaining. "A lot of misconceptions out there…she's 22 going on 23, and she keeps me young and fresh. We have a love that people don't really understand and I don't really care to explain it. That's what it is."

Marques detailed the timeline of his relationship with Miya on TV One's series, "Uncensored". We had no, really, conversation and no, really, connection until she was of age."

"People don't understand it. And, of course, I got a lot of backlash for marrying someone that was 19," the musician continued explaining. " He states that his relationship with Miya differ than women his age, because "for one, we had a spiritual connection, and I feel like that's the most important thing."

"And being able to start being around her," the crooner, who welcomed his and Miya's first child in December 2021, further shared. "We connected through music and her spirit, her kindness, her heart. Reminds me a lot of my mom, and we connected on so many different levels."
