The 'Babylon' actress makes a stunning entrance in the video that also offers a glimpse at Ryan Gosling's Ken, Simu Liu and Issa Rae's characters as well as the colorful world of Barbie.

AceShowbiz - The first teaser trailer for "Barbie" is finally here for viewing pleasure. Courtesy of Warner Bros. Pictures, the official sneak peek made its way out online on Friday, December 16 via the studio's YouTube channel.

It opens with a look at some girls playing with their baby dolls before Margot Robbie's titular character makes an eye-popping entrance in a hilarious spoof of "2001: A Space Odyssey". "Since the beginning of time, since the first little girl ever existed, there have been... dolls. But the dolls were always and forever baby dolls until...," a voiceover says.

At this point, Robbie appears wearing a retro black-and-white swimsuit. She lowers her sunglasses and winks for the camera, while the girls are stunned. The little girls then throw and smash their baby dolls.

The final few seconds of the teaser then give a look at Barbie's fantastic colorful world as well as other characters, including Ryan Gosling's Ken and others played by Simu Liu, Issa Rae, Ncuti Gatwa and Kingsley Ben-Adir. A scene of Barbie dancing in a glittering dress closes the video.

"Barbie" is directed by Greta Gerwig from a screenplay written by herself and Noah Baumbach. Also starring in the movie are Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Will Ferrell and "And Just Like That..." actor Hari Nef.

Ferrell recently revealed his role in the upcoming film. "I get to play the CEO of Mattel and be that guy who's just insensitive but weird and then, not to spoil anything, but…," he told the Wall Street Journal in November.

Stopping short before revealing too much, the comedian heaped praise on the movie as a whole, hailing it as a combination of high and low art forms coming together for something special. He said, "It is, in my humble opinion, the ultimate example of high art and low art."

The movie is set to hit U.S. theaters on July 21, 2023.
