According to motel staffers who interacted with the DJ and dancer in the hours leading up to his death, he wasn't visibly upset when he checked into the Oak Tree Inn in Encino, Calif. where he took his own life.

AceShowbiz - Stephen "tWitch" Boss' tragic passing was rather unexpected by those who last saw him. According to staff at the motel where he was found dead, the DJ didn't show any sign of distress when he checked into on Monday morning, December 12.

Speaking to TMZ, some staffers at the Oak Tree Inn in Encino, California recounted their interaction with tWitch in the hours leading up to his suicide. They said the 40-year-old didn't appear to be in any sort of distress and wasn't visibly upset about anything.

tWitch, who was a prominent feature on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" for nine years after getting his big break on "So You Think You Can Dance" in 2008, booked the room for only one night and had a small bag with him.

After he missed his checkout on Tuesday, employees went to his room and found him dead in the bathroom from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The staffers said no one heard gunfire at any point during tWitch's stay, which is possible given the motel's layout. It has separate units and the structure is in a U-shape.

tWitch's wife Allison Holker confirmed the sad news of her husband's passing in a statement to PEOPLE. "It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us," she broke her silence on Wednesday. "Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him."

"He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans," she added of her late husband. "To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt. I am certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children. Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you."

According to TMZ, Allison rushed into an LAPD station saying her husband had "left home without his car," which made her concerned. Shortly afterwards, police received a call from an LA hotel about a shooting, and they found tWitch's body.

Tributes have poured in from fans and celebrity friends, including Ellen DeGeneres who said she was "heartbroken" by his passing as she considered him "family." Jada Pinkett Smith said her "heart aches" for tWitch's wife Allison and their children, while Ciara shared, "I am so crushed to hear the news that you are no longer with us."
