The actress, who is best known for portraying Mindy Chen on the Netflix romantic comedy 'Emily in Paris', details how her past battle with cancer motivated her to become an actress when speaking to Shape magazine.

AceShowbiz - Ashley Park is not taking time for granted. In a new interview, the Mindy Chen depicter on the Netflix romantic comedy "Emily in Paris" detailed how her past battle with cancer motivated her to become an actress.

The 31-year-old shared her story when sitting down with Shape magazine. "Once cancer physically left my body, I made it my mission to not let it affect my life. I didn't want it to define me," she said.

"People were so worried about me," the singer/dancer further elaborated. "And I became the person that was like, 'I'm fine. Don't worry about me. I am going to go after what I want and just do it.' "

Though her past cancer diagnosis has changed how she views health and wellness, Ashley said her time on Broadway played more part. "When you're performing so much, you realize that your body is your vessel - it's your instrument," she explained. "So, you have to treat it as such and really take care of it."

"I have to move every day," the Californian-born actress continued. "That can be hard with my filming schedule, so I've learned that to stay motivated, I have to adjust what type of physical activity can fit into my life at any given moment."

As for her workout, Ashley revealed that she's "done everything." She went on to elaborate, "I had a big yoga phase, a big cycling phase, a big running phase... And I've always loved dancing."

Of her diet, Ashley said it's primarily plant-based but she still eats meat occasionally. "I am highly anemic because of what I went through with my cancer." she shared. "So, I do like a nice steak every once in a while."
