Even though the late Queen was supportive of the couple's relationship, she reportedly thought that the Duke of Sussex was 'perhaps a little over-in-love' with the former 'Suits' star.

AceShowbiz - Queen Elizabeth II was fully supportive of her grandson Prince Harry's relationship with Meghan Markle despite public's negative perception of the actress. However, a new royal biography reveals that the late Queen was concerned about one thing when it came to their relationship.

Author Gyles Brandreth claims in his new book, titled "Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait", that the Queen never spoke poorly of Meghan. She was also said to be "truly delighted" when she learned that Harry and the former "Suits" star were getting married. Despite that, an excerpt published by The Daily Mail reveals that the late monarch thought that the Duke of Sussex was "perhaps a little over-in-love" with Meghan.

"This was as far as she came - to my knowledge at least - to ever uttering a word against the new Duchess of Sussex," Gyles writes. "She liked Meghan and told lots of people so. And she did everything she could to make her future granddaughter-in-law feel welcome."

Queen Elizabeth II also allegedly said that that Meghan could continue to pursue her acting career after the royal wedding. "That's your profession, after all," the Queen reportedly told the mom of two. According to the book, the Queen wasn't really bothered by Harry and Meghan's bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey back in 2021 as she called it "television nonsense."

Gyles says, "I can tell you, because I know this, that the Queen was always more concerned for Harry's well-being than about 'this television nonsense,' meaning both the Oprah Winfrey interview - which caused so much controversy - and the lucrative deal the Sussexes made with Netflix." He added that she was anxious that "Harry should 'find his feet' in California and 'find really useful things to do.' "

The author additionally talks about how Prince Philip reacted to the Sussexes' decision to step down from their roles as senior royal family members and relocate to the United States. "It's a big mistake to think about yourself… If you think it's all about you, you'll never be happy," the late husband of Queen Elizabeth II allegedly told the couple.

King Charles is also said to feel similarly. "When we get to the Coronation of Charles III, the issue of 'Harry and Meghan'… will be unavoidable. And, from the new King's point of view, deeply regrettable," the author notes in the book, which is set to be released in December.
