Justin Bieber 'Proud' of Hailey's 'Courage' After Publicly Addressing His Past With Selena Gomez

The Canadian Grammy-winning pop star 'applauds' his wife for 'showing such incredible strength' after shutting down rumors she 'stole' him from the 'Lose You to Love Me' songstress.

AceShowbiz - Justin Bieber is a proud husband. The Canadian pop superstar has applauded his wife Hailey Baldwin for being courageous to publicly address his past relationship with Selena Gomez.

Hailey got very candid about the timeline of her and Justin's love life in the Wednesday, September 28 episode of "Call Her Daddy" podcast. After putting to bed the long-running rumors that their romance overlapped with his 8-year on-and-off relationship with Selena, Justin "couldn't be more proud of Hailey right now."

A source close to the 28-year-old Grammy winner told HollywoodLife.com shortly after the podcast was aired, "[Justin] knows doing this interview wasn't easy and it wasn't a decision she took lightly but she felt it was something that needed to be done at one point or another."

"Justin applauds Hailey for showing such incredible strength and courage and he knows it wasn't easy for her," the so-called insider continued. "Justin has seen Hailey go through so many ups and downs in their relationship. She's been harassed and attacked just for being with him, and he's seen her cry many times over it. But he's also seen how resilient Hailey is and he's so proud to call Hailey his wife."

Justin "doesn't know what he would do without her in his life," the informant added. "He's hoping this interview will give people a chance to see the real her, and that she is her own individual, separate from him."

Despite setting the record straight on their dating timeline, Hailey still gets hate from Jelena fans. A second source close to Justin told HL that the "Peaches" hitmaker admires how his model wife handles the haters.

"He admires her grace and the way she's handled herself in all of this. What she's been through [with the fans harassing her] has been really tough, so he's glad she's speaking her truth and setting the record straight," said the informant. "He's done all he can to make sure she feels his full support. Justin's very protective of Hailey but he knows she's got this. She's a very strong person and he loves that about her."

In the podcast interview, Hailey shut down speculation she "stole" Justin from the "Lose You to Love Me" singer. "No, not once. When him and I started hooking up, or anything of that sort, he was not in any relationship. It's not my character to mess with someone's relationship, I was raised better than that," she told host Alex Cooper.

Elsewhere during the chat, Hailey also discussed Selena chants at the 2021 Met Gala. At the time, the daughter of Stephen Baldwin and the "Baby" hitmaker, who had a fling in 2016 before rekindling their romance in mid-2018 and then getting engaged in July and tying the knot two months later, were on the red carpet at the ritzy affair posing for photos amid boisterous "Se-le-na! Se-le-na!" chants from the frenzied crowd.

"I could hear everyone screaming and, again, I think there's a certain part of you that has a numbness of just like, I was like, really surprised," Hailey recalled. "I could kind of hear, but I didn't know if that's what was really going on until I saw the video after, the whole thing of everybody being like, 'Oh, he's trying to tell her not to cry.' That was not true. It [the Selena chants] wasn't making me cry, although it's a very disrespectful thing to do towards anybody."

"I felt like I had something in my eye," Hailey further explained. "That's just what goes to show you how out of context things can be seen, when he's like trying to help me. I'm like, 'I feel like there's something in my eye. Do you see something in my eye?'"

Hailey added, "But yeah, I did hear people yelling. It wasn't making me almost cry. I just felt like it was disrespectful to me, to my relationship. It just was, period. The end." The Rhode Beauty founder concluded, "But I think I've endured so much disrespect, and I still do to this day that there was like a part of me that was just like another day."
