The 49-year-old former Bears quarterback responds in a new podcast interview to the 'Very Cavallari' alum's recent comments in which she shared that her marriage to him was 'toxic.'

AceShowbiz - Jay Cutler has weighed in on ex-wife Kristin Cavallari's recent claims in which she called their marriage "toxic." During the Wednesday, August 10, episode of the "Sofia With an F" podcast, the 49-year-old claimed that actually he'd prefer to stay tight-lipped.

"If she wants to say stuff, she can say stuff," Jay revealed, "I'm not going to go down that road about her. I mean, she's still the mother of my kids." The former couple shares three children together, sons Camden (9) and Jaxon (8) as well as daughter Saylor (6).

The former Bears quarterback, who was married to the "Very Cavallari" alum from 2013 to 2020, went on to dub Kristin's remarks "comical." He said that while the reality star can "say whatever she wants" because that's "the way she feels," her comments were ill-timed.

"It's been two and a half years. Why are we having these conversations in public? Why are we doing this?" the Indiana native questioned. "We're done here."

During the interview, Jay was also asked about the reasons for the split. To that question, the former pro athlete suggested that Kristin "fell out of love with him," adding that the pair's reality show "Very Cavallari" didn't directly contribute to their breakup. When host Sofia Franklyn asked if Kristin was "more comfortable airing s**t out because she's used to that life," Jay said, "She loves it."

Kristin discussed their marriage to Jay in an episode of the "Call Your Daddy" podcast earlier this month. Calling their marriage "toxic," the former "The Hills" star revealed what prompted her to end her marriage. "I mean, it took me a few years to actually pull the trigger, to be honest … It was more just time. Nothing major happened at the end," she told host Alex Cooper.

"I really don't think anything good comes easy. Really, like, with anything in life," the jewelry designer explained. "But you also don't want to just make an impulsive decision either and that's why it's important to write it out. I've also seen couples who've worked through s**t and come out on the other side, you know, so I think with any relationship, you just have to realize what are dealbreakers for you. What's important to you and what's not?"

Concluding her story, the Uncommon James designer called their marriage "toxic," adding, "Period, end of story. That's all I kinda need to say."
