The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actor appeared to be in good spirits when arriving for a rehearsal over the weekend in Italy with the red-haired woman in tow.

AceShowbiz - The mystery surrounding Johnny Depp's new female companion has been unraveled. After photos of the Golden Globe Award-winning actor and a mystery redhead surfaced online and may have sparked dating rumors anew, their relationship has been clarified.

According to TMZ which obtained the pictures of the twosome, there's nothing romantic about the relationship between the actor/musician and the red-haired woman. Sources say the woman is none other than a French teacher who helps the 59-year-old star prepare for his upcoming French-language film "La Favorite", which was previously titled "Jeanne du Barry".

Johnny was spotted with the mystery redhead when he arrived for a rehearsal at the Arena Santa Giuliana in Italy on Sunday, July 17 ahead of his performance with fellow rocker Jeff Beck. He was in town for the Umbria Jazz Festival.

In the circulating images, the former "21 Jump Street" TV series star appeared to be in good spirits as he stepped out of a white car, followed by the redhead beauty closely behind. One of the photos showed her handing out a bag to Johnny which he later carried. Following the rehearsal, he returned to the Brufani hotel in Perugia, where the woman was also reported to be staying.

As for "La Favorite", it marks Johnny's movie comeback following his much-publicized defamation trial against Amber Heard that he eventually won and his first film in three years. He will portray King Louis XV in the movie, which will tell the story of Jeanne Becu, an impoverished seamstress who rises through the ranks of Louis XV's court to become his official mistress.

Maiwenn Le Besco is directing the pic and also stars as Jeanne Becu. Though the real Louis XV ruled over France for nearly 59 years, he "died as an unpopular king...accused of corruption and debauchery," according to Variety.

Filming is scheduled to start later this summer across France and will last for about three months. The movie is expected to be ready for theatrical release in the country in 2023. It will also be available for streams on Netflix in the country 15 months following its theatrical release.
