The 55-year-old former professional boxer was caught attacking a male passenger during his flight from San Francisco to Florida on Wednesday night, April 20.

AceShowbiz - Mike Tyson has broken his silence following an altercation involving an annoying fan. Having been caught throwing punches at a male passenger during his flight to Florida, the former professional boxer claimed he attacked the man because the latter threw a water bottle at him.

Speaking on behalf of Iron Mike was his representative. In a statement shared to Entertainment Tonight, the rep said, "Unfortunately, Mr. Tyson had an incident on a flight with an aggressive passenger who began harassing him and threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat."

The ordeal took place when Mike took a JetBlue flight from San Francisco to Florida on Wednesday night, April 20. He initially had a few exchanges with the said fan and they even took a selfie together. However, the "extremely intoxicated" guy failed to leave Mike alone as he kept talking in his ear with someone from across the seat filming it.

Having had enough, the heavyweight boxing champion stood up from his seat and punched the man repeatedly. The fan later showed his bloodied forehead to his pal who said, "My boy just got beat up by Mike Tyson... Yeah, he got f**ked up."

It was unveiled that Mike walked off the plane shortly after his attack. The man who got punched, meanwhile, received medical attention and reported the ordeal to police.

The San Francisco Police Department has confirmed to TMZ Sports that two people involved in the incident were detained. However, the SFPD claimed that the individual who was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries "provided minimal details of the incident and refused to cooperate further with the police investigation."

They are also aware of the video of the incident that has been circulating online. The footage has been forwarded to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
