Wack 100 expressed his condolences after DJ Kay Slay's passing.

"Hip Hop lost a real gem," Van Silk confirmed DJ Kay's passing to HipHopDX. "My dear brother is gone. I've known him since he was 16 years old. He was my little brother. I introduced him to many and we did a lot of things together. We last talked in December because we were finishing up the 200 rolling deep project. He was gonna do his video part with MC Sha-Rock."

Van Silk added, "From the mixtapes to helping him launch Straight Stuntin' magazine and the whole What The Science project, the world not only lost a real dedicated person to the culture of Hip Hop but a source of bridging the gap in Hip Hop." He went on to say, "I'm gonna miss my little brother."

DJ Kay was rushed to hospital in December last year. At the time, Wack 100 suggested that the DJ was dying. However, the "Rolling 110 Deep" artist's brother Kwame Grayson insisted that his sibling "is definitely not going to die."

"That right there…I'm not going to lie, I was jumping around. I was definitely happy. Kay Slay is a private dude and he didn't tell anybody in the hospital who he was, and we were kinda getting average treatment," Kwame said in January. "When they found out who he was, that's when everybody stepped up treatment."

Kwame continued, "He was slowly fading away, but God didn't let that happen. Everything in time and when they found out who he was, they got him powered up again." He later shared, "So he's up and going. He's like in a recovery state, but he's definitely not going to die. You can trust me on that."

Also in January, Wack 100 announced that DJ Kay was put on a ventilator. "Pray for my brotha @djkayslay It's not looking good. He might be mad at me for this those that know Slay but he needs all the support he can get," wrote Wack 100, born Cash Jones. "Been 14 days fighting Covid and he's just be put on a ventilator. Keep him in your prayers Please."

More recently, Wack 100 gave an update on DJ Kay's condition. "UPDATE‼️ @djkayslay still fighting," he wrote in an Instagram post he shared on Thursday, April 14. "He's been off the #ECMO machine for couple weeks now . Let's continue our prayers as our brother continues to fight [folded hands emoji]."
