In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published on Friday, April 15, the 43-year-old actress opened up about things that might lead to her breakup. Addressing whether she's currently based in Los Angeles, she told the outlet, "I'm not. I had been there living with Fred and during COVID." She candidly shared, "I honestly think we broke up because I wanted a swimming pool."
"We love each other just about as much as two people can love each other and we're still talking all the time, but Freddy doesn't like a swimming pool," Natasha explained further. The Nicky Nichols depicter on "Orange Is the New Black" went on saying, "It might seem like a mundane reason for a breakup, but during that pandemic, you've got to get your laps."
Natasha later quipped, "I'm like Burt Lancaster in 'The Swimmer'." She then revealed that she "got [herself] a house with a pool out in Los Angeles," before joking, "So that's the real scandal." She added, "I guess I finally am an actual bicoastal."
Natasha and Fred were first linked in 2014 when they attended Netflix's post-Emmys party at the Chateau Marmont. At the time, an onlooker claimed that the pair "shared kisses and were very cozy together."
Natasha later revealed in an interview for Glamour's cover story in 2019 that Fred's former "Saturday Night Live" colleague Maya Rudolph was the one who introduced them. "I was going through a rocky road, as we know," she said of the former couple's first meeting, adding that she was in her " 'Grey Gardens' phase."
The exes were last seen together at the 2020 Golden Globes. Then in September 2021, Natasha sparked rumors that she and Fred broke up as she was caught holding hands with a tall handsome mystery man during Labor Day at the Malibu Chili Cook-Off.
