In a statement issued ahead of the trial in Virginia, the 'Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom' star also announces that she'll be going 'offline for the next several weeks.'

AceShowbiz - Amber Heard is looking forward to leaving the past behind more than five years since her divorce from Johnny Depp. Ahead of the trial for his defamation lawsuit against her, the actress stated that she'll hope she and her ex-husband will finally be able to "move on."

The 35-year-old expressed her wish when addressing the upcoming trial that is set to begin on Monday, April 11 in Virginia. In a statement issued via her Instagram page on Saturday, she let her 4.1 million followers know that she'll stay away from social media during the trial.

"I'm going to go offline for the next several weeks," so Amber announced. "As you may know, I'll be in Virginia where I face my ex-husband Johnny Depp in court. Johnny is suing me for an op-ed I wrote in the Washington Post, in which I recounted my experience of violence and domestic abuse."

"I never named him," she noted, adding, "rather I wrote about the price women pay for speaking out against men in power. I continue to pay that price, but hopefully, when this case concludes, I can move on and so can Johnny."

Claiming that it's never her intention to dish out their dirty laundry, the Mera depicter in DCEU continued, "I have always maintained a love for Johnny and it brings me great pain to have to live out the details of our past life together in front of the world."

She then concluded her message by thanking her supporters, writing, "At this time, I recognize the ongoing support I've been fortunate to receive through these years, and in these coming weeks I will be leaning on it more than ever."

Amber filed for divorce from Johnny in May 2016 after only one year of marriage and it was finalized in January 2017. However, the former pair are still embroiled in legal battle, as she claimed that he had been verbally and physically abusive throughout their relationship. The "Pirates of the Caribbean" star then sued his ex-wife for defamation over an op-ed she wrote for The Washington Post which was published in December 2018.
