In his statement, the former star of 'The Challenge' asks for an 'opportunity to figure out' their journey privately as the decision to go separate ways after their 8-month-old girl died from acute myeloid leukemia is 'tough.'

AceShowbiz - Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee have announced that they're going separate ways. The announcement of their breakup came less than a year after they lost their daughter Azaylia following a courageous battle with acute myeloid leukemia.
A few days ahead of the first anniversary of the death of their baby girl, "The Challenge" alum took to his Instagram Story to share the news. "After a devastating and heartbreaking year, Safiyya and I decided to separate a few months ago," he began.
"This was an incredibly tough decision which we needed to keep to ourselves for some time to give us the opportunity to figure out our own journey privately," Ashley continued. "The past few months have demonstrated that we remain the closest of friends, spending time together everyday, and that we will love, care and support each other forever."
Despite their split, Ashley claimed that he and Safiyya will remain friends. "We are bonded by our powerful journey together, by the eternal love we have for our daughter, and our passionate commitment to her foundation," he concluded his post.
Ashley and Safiyya lost their daughter Azaylia on April 24 last year. Azaylia was only 8 months old at the time of her death. "Rest In Paradise Princess. I will always hold you in my heart until I can hold you in heaven again [love] #AzayliaDiamondCain," Ashley captioned a photo of himself hugging his baby girl.
Then last October, Safiyya divulged that she's suffering from depression following Azaylia's tragic death. Along with an Instagram photo that saw her smiling, she shared, "What's behind the smile? While you may see a smile and the surface may seem to look ok, behind my smile there is pain, heartache, depression & anxiety that I suffer with on a daily basis."
"I Lost part of my heart when Azaylia went to heaven, I lost my happiness, my soul went dark & my world feels torn apart," Safiyya continued in her lengthy caption. However, she believed that she could get up by "taking baby steps each day in the right direction." She then highlighted, "But with Azaylia being my hero & inspiration I get up & try."
