The 23-year-old Canadian heartthrob first debuted the track when he performed at the Billboard + Samsung's The Stage event in Austin, Texas earlier this month.

AceShowbiz - It looks like Shawn Mendes still finds it difficult to move on from a previous relationship. In a new track "When You're Gone", which was released on Wednesday, March 30, the Canadian superstar laments lingering feelings after breaking up with his special someone.

"Hold on/ I don't wanna know what it's like when you'rе gone/ I don't wanna move on/ I don't wanna know what it's like whеn you're gone for good," the 23-year-old heartthrob sings in the chorus. "You're slipping through my fingertips/ A little bit, by a little bit/ I didn't know that loving you was the happiest I've ever been/ So, I'm just tryna hold on."

The track arrived with its official music video, which was filmed several days of recording and rehearsing in Toronto, Canada. The visuals also includes footage from Shawn's performance at the Billboard + Samsung's The Stage event in Austin, Texas, where he debuted the track.

"When You're Gone" is Shawn's first release since "It'll Be Okay", which hit streaming services in December 2021. The "Where Were You in the Morning" crooner then gave the soft, piano-backed melancholic track a music video treatment in January.

Shawn has been getting candid about his post-breakup feelings after calling it quits with Camila Cabello. The former couple announced their split in November after dating for 2 years. In a joint statement shared on their respective Instagram accounts, they said, "Hey guys, we've decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever."

The "Senorita" collaborators then assured their online devotees that they will continue to be best friends despite parting ways. "We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward," the statement read.
