AceShowbiz - Jane Krakowski is taking a break from work after testing positive for COVID-19. As the former "30 Rock" star stepped down from "Annie Live!" to recover from the disease, she will be replaced by Megan Hilty.

As NBC confirmed, the 53-year-old actress is "experiencing a breakthrough Covid case while working on a separate project in Ireland." It's also reported that she contracted the deadly virus "despite being double vaccinated, a regular testing process and abiding by protocols."

A separate source told PEOPLE that Jane is "recovering safely and she wishes Annie the best." A so-called inside source further explained that the "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" alum will be "cheering Megan and the cast on from the sidelines." As for Megan, she will play "the sassy, sticky-fingered partner of the swindling Rooster Hannigan."

In a statement, Megan said, "I am beyond thrilled to join this all-star cast, crew & creative team! My family and I have been super fans of Annie for as long as I can remember." The former "Smash" star added, "We always look forward to the epic televised musicals produced by Bob Greenblatt & Neil Meron."

"So to be a part of this particular production is an honor and a dream come true," Megan continued. She concluded her statement as saying, "I wish Jane the speediest of recoveries and hope to do her proud!"

"Annie Live!" will be executive produced by Robert Greenblatt, Neil Meron and Alex Rudzinski. In the meantime, Lear deBessonet and Rudzinski share the directing duties. Choreography will be led by Sergio Trujillo. The live event is being produced by Chloe Productions.

The star-studded cast also features Taraji P. Henson as Miss Hannigan, Harry Connick Jr. as Daddy Warbucks, Nicole Scherzinger as Grace and newcomer Celina Smith as Annie. The musical will air on Thursday, December 2 at 8 P.M. on NBC.
