Joel Souza, who was accidentally shot by the actor while he was standing behind Halyna Hutchins during the filming, reportedly is still mourning the death of the cinematographer.

AceShowbiz - Joel Souza is on the road to recovery. More than a week after he was accidentally shot by Alec Baldwin on the set of his movie, the director was seen wearing an arm sling in the first picture since the accident.

The 48-year-old filmmaker was spotted looking somber outside his home in Palo Alto, California. His friend claimed that he's still mourning the loss of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who was killed in the same accident.

"Joel is in pieces. He was standing right behind Halyna," the friend shared. "They were both looking into the camera monitor as Alec fired the gun straight at them. He is utterly devastated."

The shooting happened during the filming at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico on October 21. When Alec fired a prop gun, Joel was reportedly standing directly behind Halyna.

Unfortunately, Halyna died after she was airlifted to University of New Mexico Hospital for stomach surgery. Joel, on the other hand, managed to escape death after he was rushed into emergency care at Christus St. Vincent's hospital. He only spent a night in hospital after getting a bullet removed from his shoulder.

Alec then offered his condolences to Halyna's loved ones via Twitter. The former "Saturday Night Live" cast member also made it clear that he's "fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred."

Alec himself has met with Halyna's husband and their son. In pictures surfacing online, the father of Ireland Baldwin could be seen embracing Matthew and the latter's 9-year-old son outside a hotel where they were staying.

It was reported that Alec is still struggling to deal with the shooting. He was allegedly "hysterical and absolutely inconsolable for hours" after the incident. A source further told PEOPLE, "Everyone knows this was an accident, but he's absolutely devastated."
