The British dating show is hugely affected by the Euro 2020 broadcast as its ratings significantly dropped on the night England faced off Denmark in semi-final.

AceShowbiz - "Love Island U.K." lost 1.2 million viewers on Wednesday (7Jul21) night due to England's Euro 2020 soccer match.

The ITV2 dating show's start time was pushed back to 10pm BST, an hour later than usual, but the Euro 2020 semi-final clash against Denmark at Wembley, which was screened on the flagship channel ITV, went into extra time, which had a huge effect on the hit show's viewing figures.

Just 941,000 reality fans tuned in on Wednesday evening, compared to Tuesday night's episode of Love Island, which drew 2.2million viewers, as England's tense semi-final stretched into extra time, adding over 30 minutes to the match that finished at 10.35pm, reported Daily Mail Online.

The figures do not include views on ITV Hub, the broadcaster's on-demand service.

Britain's national squad triumphed over the Danes with a final score of 2-1, making them the first England men's soccer team in 55 years to reach the Euros final.

England women's soccer team reached the final of UEFA Women's Championship in 2009, where they were runners-up to Germany.

Stars including Adele and Robbie Williams lead the celebrations for the soccer squad, with Adele sharing a video to Instagram of herself and a group of friends jumping up and down and cheering as they watched Kane's incredibly penalty.

"ITS B**ODY COMING HOME (sic)," she wrote alongside the clips - a reference to 1996 track "Three Lions" by David Baddiel, Frank Skinner, and the Lightning Seeds.

Adele was joined in her conviction by singers Dua Lipa and Liam Gallagher, who both tweeted, "It's coming home."
