The 'Worth the Wait' singer is seen wearing a cast on her leg when attending this year's CMT Music Awards and performing with Lady Antebellum and Carly Pearce.

AceShowbiz - Lindsay Ell was sporting a cast at the CMT Awards on Wednesday night (09Jun21) after breaking her foot chasing after her runaway dog.

The country singer teamed her eye-catching silver dress with a matching cast on her right leg as she posed on the red carpet at the awards ceremony. And speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Lindsay opened up about how she ended up wearing the unusual accessory.

"I was chasing after my dog!" she said. "She got out of the bus, we left the bus door open and she just went plummeting out of it. Naturally, like any dog owner, (I ran) after her, but I was in socks."

Jumping from the top step of the bus to the parking lot, Lindsay "just landed wrong."

"I broke it pretty good," sighed the star who adopted a Pomeranian named Hendrix earlier this year.

While her doctors warned Lindsay her leg could take around eight weeks to heal, she wasn't about to miss out on the CMT Awards - where she also performed alongside Lady A.

"I just think that's what life is about," she smiled. "If we've learned anything from the last year and a half, it's how to take lemons and turn them into lemonade."

She was brought in as a performer after Gabby Barrett and Maren Morris pulled out of the event hosted by Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini.

Brown dominated by taking home two coveted awards, Male Video of the Year for "Worship You" and Collaborative Video of the Year for "Famous Friends" with Chris Young.
