The 'Boy Next Door' actor regrets his previous remarks about using racial slurs all the time with his friends, apologizing and claiming that he 'misspoke.'

AceShowbiz - Ryan Guzman has apologised for "misspeaking" after trying to defend his use of racial slurs.

The "9-1-1" star took to Instagram Live on Sunday, May 31, 2020 to address recently resurfaced Twitter posts by his fiancee, Brazilian actress Chrysti Ane, who had openly used the N-word in the 2011 tweets.

Attempting to clarify the situation by speaking directly to fans, insisting he and Ane are in no way racist, Guzman revealed he and his group of friends "call each other slurs all the time."

"I have plenty of friends - Black, white, Asian, Indian, whatever they are, Korean - and we make fun of each other's races all the time," "The Boy Next Door" star continued. "We call each other slurs all the time. We don't get butthurt (offended) at all because we know the actual person, we know who each other are."

But his remarks sparked anger from many fans and also his "9-1-1" co-stars Oliver Stark, Rockmond Dunbar, and Aisha Hinds, leading to Guzman sharing a new video on Instagram on Monday in which he apologised for his actions.

"Let me first start off by saying I do not condone the use of the N-word by any non-black person. That included all Latinos, that's not our word," he began.

Continuing to explain he was more than a little angry when he took to Instagram Live on Sunday, after apparently witnessing death threats and "foul a*s language" against Ane and their son, Ryan said, "When I said slurs I came from an angry place, I couldn't think straight and I misspoke."

The screen star insisted he meant to say "racial stereotypes" rather than slurs, and added, "I apologise to those that I have offended and misrepresented myself by using the wrong term… I will continue to grow, and continue to help out the community."

In a further response on Twitter, he wrote, "I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for my misuse of 'slurs.' I should have said we make fun of each others 'stereotypes.' My friends black friends will tell me to go mow a lawn or hop the border. Out of context that seems racist asf but I know my friends mean no harm... Let me be clear cut. I do not use the n word because it's not mine to use. My true friends of all races know that."

Clearly growing tired of the criticism, Guzman then did his best to end the narrative as he tried to focus the conversation on the Black Lives Matter movement following the death of George Floyd at the hands of police officers, writing, "I'm done with defending myself or my family to people who are as quick to judge as they are to condemn. Let me get back to the real topic and help out any way I can to the black community."

"I've already donated to 1 organisation. Heres another. Please help."
