Spokesman Juda Engelmayer claims that the disgraced movie mogul is starting to come to terms with the reality of his 23-year prison sentence for rape and sexual assault.

AceShowbiz - Harvey Weinstein is set to be discharged from hospital and transferred to New York's Rikers Island prison.

The disgraced movie mogul was admitted to Manhattan's Bellevue Hospital with chest pains last Wednesday, March 11, shortly after he was sentenced to serve 23 years behind bars for rape and sexual assault.

He has been under doctors' care ever since, but on Monday, his spokesman Juda Engelmayer revealed Weinstein was well enough to be released and will be heading back to Rikers Island, where he will be held in the medical ward, North Infirmary Command.

"It's known that he has a weak heart," Engelmayer tells Variety. "So, right after the sentencing, when he went back to Rikers, he was faint and talking funny, and the staff at Rikers felt it was best to send him back (to Bellevue) to make sure nothing happened to him. He has heart issues and serious health issues and they wanted to make sure he was OK."

Weinstein, who turns 68 on Thursday, March 19, had previously received treatment at Bellevue a week before his sentencing, when he underwent an angioplasty procedure following chest pain and high blood pressure issues.

Meanwhile, Engelmayer reveals the shamed producer - who also faces sex crime charges in Los Angeles - is starting to come to terms with the reality of his lengthy prison sentence, which his lawyers will be appealing.

"I think that he's managing the best he can," the representative shares. "I think this (sentence) has dawned on him. It's very hard on him. It's a new reality and it's starting to set in."
