AceShowbiz - RuPaul's DragCon L.A. is the latest event to be scrapped amid mounting concerns surrounding the outbreak of coronavirus.
The annual drag convention, featuring "RuPaul's Drag Race" host RuPaul, was originally set to be held from May 1 to 3 in Los Angeles, but was cancelled on Tuesday, March 10, according to a statement from organisers.
"DragCon's first priority is always the health and safety of everyone involved and we've been actively tracking the situation around the coronavirus," they said. "The situation in California (and the world) is rapidly changing, with new information coming out everyday. Unfortunately, there's no way for anyone to know what the situation will be like in May."
"Due to that uncertainty, and out of an abundance of caution, we've decided that it's in the best interest of the talent, staff, and attendees to cancel RuPaul's DragCon L.A. 2020," the statement concludes.
The event plans to return to Los Angeles in 2021 and be "better than ever."
Coronavirus has wreaked havoc with events worldwide, with California's Coachella and Stagecoach festivals postponed, TV shows including "The Wendy Williams Show" going ahead without an audience, and high-profile acts including Queen, Madonna, and Mariah Carey cancelling shows to avoid the illness.
Global cases of coronavirus have risen to more than 119,000, with over 4,300 fatalities registered since December.
