The 'Slide Away' singer is recovering at home after being released from hospital following a surgical procedure to fix her vocal cord issue which she discovered last month when she was treated for tonsillitis.

AceShowbiz - There was a reason why Miley Cyrus has been silence on her social media. She suffered from vocal cord issue and has just undergone surgery to fix it. Now she is on the mend and will continue to stay silence during her recovery.

According to a scoop from People, the 26-year-old singer/songwriter is ordered to spend several weeks of silence following the surgical procedure. A source said she was "doing great and will be back and better than ever early next year."

Miley has been discharged from hospital. On Friday, November 8, her boyfriend Cody Simpson seemed to drop a hint at her surgery as he posted on Instagram Stories a black and white picture of them with a caption: "Success."

Her vocal cord issue came after she suffered from tonsillitis last month. When she was treated at hospital, she was told by her doctor that there was a separate issue with her vocal cords, which she had unknowingly had for years.

She was ordered to rest her voice and have surgery before the year ends. As a result, her recording and performing were put on hold. It, however, didn't keep her from working out to keep her body fit. "On vocal rest not body," so she wrote on social media.

Miley was also forced to pull out of her scheduled performance at Gorillapalooza. She was due to hit the stage along with Bruno Mars. It was a charity gig to help Ellen DeGeneres raise funds for gorilla conservation. Coldplay's Chris Martin eventually stepped in to cover for the former Disney star because she was too ill to perform or even attend the event.

During her last month hospitalization, the "Slide Away" singer at one point admitted to feeling down but her boyfriend cheered her up and even wrote a special song for her. "It's a golden thing," he serenaded her. "And I shouted the words in the first daylight. Then a chorus of birds burst on into sight." She responded, "Suddenly I am feeling much better."
