Not much is known about the plot of the TV series of the popular fantasy movie franchise but words are, it will explore new storylines preceding 'The Fellowship of the Ring.'

AceShowbiz - Amazon's upcoming series "The Lord of the Rings" has found its lead cast in Will Poulter. The "Black Mirror: Bandersnatch" actor has reportedly been cast in a character which details are still kept under wraps.

Sources reveal to Variety that the actor's character is one of the upcoming show's lead roles. He will be joining Australian actress Markella Kavenagh, who is said to be playing a character named Tyra.

Amazon declined to comment on the report. Considering the secrecy, fans appear to assume that Poulter may be set to play a well-known figure in J.R.R. Tolkien's universe.

Either way, snagging the role is a huge step for Poulter. It will be a good addition in his strong resume following his works in "Bandersnatch". He is also starring in Ari Aster's thriller movie "Midsommar" in addition to playing lead roles in "The Maze Runner" franchise, “The Revenant" and “Detroit".

Amazon's "The Lord of the Rings" is written by JD Payne and Patrick McKay. "Game of Thrones" alum Bryan Cogman has also been attached on the forthcoming TV series as a consulting producer, while J.A. Bayona will direct multiple episodes. Executive producers are Bayona, Lindsey Weber, Bruce Richmond, Gene Kelly, Gennifer Hutchison, Jason Cahill, Justin Doble and Belen Atienza.

Not much is known about the plot of the TV series of the popular fantasy movie franchise. Words are, it will explore new storylines preceding "The Fellowship of the Ring." The show’s official Twitter account previously shared an image of a map along with two messages. One of them read, "One Ring to rule them all, One Ring to find them, One Ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them, In the Land of Mordor where the Shadows lie."

One other message read, "Welcome to the Second Age." In the Tolkien mythology, the Second Age refers the time in which the Rings of Power, including Sauron’s One Ring, came into existence.
