According to a source close to the TV personality, he and his wife of 22 years 'fought and argued all the time' in addition to sleeping in 'separate bedrooms.'

AceShowbiz - News of Larry King and Shawn Southwick's divorce might come as a surprise to most people, but not to their closed ones. PEOPLE reported that the couple's split was "a long time coming," with a source close to the TV personality alleging that Larry and his seventh wife had "essentially" separated for a decade before he finally decided to file for divorce.

The source said to the publication, "They fought and argued all the time. But also it's about protecting his kids. Shawn and Larry had essentially been separated for a decade. They sleep in separate bedrooms." It is said that the Emmy-winning TV host "was tired from all the drama," and his decision to officially end their marriage allegedly got stronger after he recently suffered angina and underwent angioplasty.

"Larry was close to dying and it really shook him," the informant explained. "He realized that he hadn't been happy for a long time." Further making him convinced to file for divorce from Shawn was her alleged affair, with the source noting, "This was a long time coming. The marriage has been over."

On Tuesday, August 20, Larry's lawyer confirmed that the star had filed for divorce from Shawn after nearly 22 years of marriage. While the lawyer did not provide any details about their divorce, according to the documents that was obtained by The Blast, Larry filed the papers in Los Angeles Superior Court. The 85-year-old cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and listed the date of separation as June 6.

Larry and Shawn tied the knot on September 5, 1997. They have two sons together, Chance (20) and Cannon (19). The "My Remarkable Journey" author was previously married to Julie Alexander, Sharon Lepore, Alene Akins, Mickey Sutphin, Annette Kaye and Freda Miller.
