Before rumors of their breakup surfaced on the internet, the former was spotted out and about with Instagram model Jazzma Kendrick in Miami. This prompted fans to think that him cheating on his "Love & Hip Hop: New York" co-star and baby mama might be the reason for their split.
Their outing was caught in a YouTube video of a group of spring breakers. They were asking where his fiancee was as Budden and Kendrick strolled the streets of South Beach while chatting. Budden, who donned a white T-shirt underneath his black blazer, could be seen waving his hands to the group while Kendrick lowered her head.
Budden and Santana first sparked split rumors after fans noticed that they had unfollowed each other on social media while the former wiped her entire Instagram page of any photos related to the rapper. The 38-year-old addressed the report during an episode of his "Joe Budden Poscast", insisting that they didn't break up. However, he admitted that there was a trouble in paradise.
"We haven't spoken in a little while. I think her phone's been dead for a few weeks. Overtime at work. Plenty of reasons I can think of. Can you have a break up without saying it?" he said. "I'm asking a very serious question. I'm asking for enlightenment from Tampa. Can you break up without actually breaking up? I didn't take it no way when she actually moved all her [stuff] out of the house."
Despite Budden's denial, Santana appeared to be confirming rumors of their breakup while responding to a fan who asked, "Can you break up without saying it?" This was a clear reference to Budden's question during his podcast. Answering the said fan, Santana wrote, "Actions speak louder than words. People have months broken up and don't even know it. But God reveals all truths."
Budden and Santana started dating in 2016 before getting engaged in December of last year. They share a son named Lexington together.
