AceShowbiz - Arrowverse's "Elseworlds" crossover is coming closer and The CW has treated fans to an extended trailer for the annual TV event. Clocking at 1 minute and 10 seconds, the footage further teases what to expect in the forthcoming annual 3-night crossover between "The Flash", "Arrow" and "Supergirl".
The trailer opens with Dr. John Deegan (Jeremy Davies) giving a lecture somewhere. "Some people, they're just born lucky. And that twist of fate makes them better," the Arkham Asylum doctor says in the video. Meanwhile, Stephen Amell's Oliver--or Barry--is waking feeling confused as he is greeted by Iris (Candice Patton).
Somewhere in the trailer, Grant Gustin's Barry has just realized that somehow he's not Barry, but Oliver. As he and Stephen's Barry look at a wedding photo of Iris and the latter, Grant's Oliver says, "Something is wrong with reality. Everyone thinks we're each other."
It turns out that the odds are John Deegan's doing as he's seen meeting The Monitor (LaMonica Garrett), who tells him, "Reshape the world as you see fit." Barry and Oliver finally learn the truth and demand Deegan to undo whatever he's done to them.
But a simple request won't solve the problem easily. "Why would I want to?" Deegan coyly replies.
Later the trailer glimpses John Wesley Shipp, who reprises his role as 1970s The Flash. "A crisis is coming," he warns as Barry and Oliver seemingly have come to terms to the swapped identities and decided to "start acting like each other." Also featured in the trailer are Batwoman (Ruby Rose) and dark-suited Superman (Tyler Hoechlin).
The new footage gives a better idea of what to come in the crossover. While details of the plot remains scarce as of now, the crossover is expected to bring fans to an alternate universe. In the comics, Elseworlds was a DC Comics imprint for stories that take place outside of regular continuity. However, it remains to be seen how the crossover is going to pay homage to its name.
Also featuring Elizabeth Tulloch as Lois Lane and Cassandra Jean Amell as Mr. Freeze's wife Nora, this year's crossover is set to begin on Sunday, December 9 with "The Flash" at 8 P.M. It will later be followed by an "Arrow" episode on Monday, December 10 at 8 P.M. "Supergirl" will conclude on the following night at 8 P.M. on The CW.
