The 'Ocean's 8' actress is reportedly offered a starring role in Warner Bros.' live-action feature adaptation of the children's TV series.

AceShowbiz - Anne Hathaway may be heading to "Sesame Street". The Oscar-winning actress is reportedly eyed to star in Warner Bros.' live-action feature adaptation of the children's TV series, joining the familiar puppets.
According to Collider, the 36-year-old is in early talks for the lead role. She is said to play a human character named Sally. A girl named Sally "appeared on the very first episode of the show, wherein longtime resident Gordon Robinson gives Sally a tour of Sesame Street and introduces her to Muppet characters such as Big Bird and Oscar the Grouch."
It should be noted though that Hathaway's involvement in the movie has not been set in stone. Should the deal be sealed, she could be playing a grown-up version of Sally who returns to Sesame Street for some reason.
The "Les Miserables" star is no stranger to "Sesame Street", having appeared as herself in its 2007 holiday special "Elmo's Christmas Countdown", in which she sings "I Want a Snuffleupagus for Christmas" with Big Bird and Snuffy.
The "Sesame Street" movie is said to be a musical and will likely feature beloved puppets like Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch and Cookie Monster. Chris Galletta ("The Kings of Summer") wrote the most recent draft of the screenplay.
"Portlandia" co-creator Jonathan Krisel is on board to direct. Warners would co-finance the movie with MGM. 21 Laps' Shawn Levy is set to produce with Michael Aguilar and Entertainment 360, the production arm of Management 360. WB exec Jesse Ehrman will oversee the project for the studio.
"Sesame Street" was created by Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisett and debuted in 1969 to positive reviews. It is produced by Sesame Workshop, which holds the rights to the children's show. After airing on PBS since its debut, first-run episodes of the show move to HBO beginning with season 46 in 2016.
Hathaway was last seen on the big screen in "Ocean's 8" which was released last summer. She will be next seen in drama thriller "Serenity (2019)" alongside Matthew McConaughey, and has also filmed comedy film "The Hustle" as well as Netflix's drama movie "The Last Thing He Wanted".
