AceShowbiz - The 2018 BET Hip-Hop Music Awards has revealed its winner during its broadcast on Tuesday, October 16. Cardi B came out as the biggest winner at the annual event which was hosted by comedian and actor DeRay Ravis.
The female emcee brought home a total of four awards during the fun night, including MVP of the Year and Sweet 16: Best Featured Verse for her collaboration with Migos and Nicki Minaj on "MotorSport". Trailing behind her was the Carters (Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z) who bagged home three awards.
The power couple won the biggest honor of the night, Album of the Year, for their joint effort "Everything Is Love", defeating the likes of Drake and Migos. They additionally won Best Collabo, Duo or Group for the set's lead single "Apes**t", which also won Single of the Year. The latter award also went to its producer, Pharrell Williams.
Besides taking home Single of the Year, Pharrell was presented with Producer of the Year, marking his second win on the night. Also notching two awards was Childish Gambino a.k.a. Donald Glover. Thanks to his hit single "This Is America", the "Atlanta" creator won Best Hip-Hop Video and Impact Track.
Despite leading the nominations with more than five nods, Drake was only able to nab an award that night. The Canadian hip-hop superstar was honored with Hot Ticket Performer. His frequent collaborator Karena Evans, meanwhile, bagged Video Director of the Year.
On the other hand, Lil Wayne was presented with special I Am Hip Hop Award. During his acceptance speech, the Young Money founder opened up about his suicide attempt at the age of 12 and the person who rescued him, a man whom he called Uncle Bob.
Others winners at the event which took place on October 6 at The Fillmore Miami Beach at Jackie Gleason Theater in Miami included DJ Khaled and Kendrick Lamar.
