AceShowbiz - Singer Jason Mraz grappled with his sexuality as he dated the woman who would become his wife, because he was also enjoying "experiences" with men at the time.

The I'm Yours hitmaker penned a love poem to members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) community for Billboard.com in June to celebrate Pride Month, and turned heads with one particular line, in which he seemingly 'came out' as bisexual.

The sentence in question read, "I am bi your side," and now Jason admits he was surprised at how much of a stir the low-key mention made.

"Honestly, I didn't realise it was going to be so telling," he confessed to Billboard as he reflected on the big reveal.

The singer explains he began questioning his sexual preferences a few years ago, after meeting Christina Carano, while still experimenting with same sex relationships.

"I've had experiences with men, even while I was dating the woman who became my wife," the 41-year-old recalled. "It was like, 'Wow, does that mean I am gay?'".

It was actually Christina who helped Jason understand his attraction to both men and women: "My wife laid it out for me," he shared. "She calls it 'two spirit', which is what the Native Americans call someone who can love both man and woman. I really like that".

The couple ended up dating for four years before becoming husband and wife in October, 2015, and Jason is so happy in his relationship, he recently gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at his wedding day in Virginia by including personal video footage in the promo for his new single, Might As Well Dance.
