However, fans of the 'Fake Love' hitmakers don't have to be sad as the seven-piece boyband wins a separate poll on Instagram.

AceShowbiz - EXO will once again take over an international sport event with their songs. On July 4, FIFA posted on its official Twitter account a tweet asking fans which song they would like to hear inside the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. After a day of intense voting, the results are in with the group's song "Power" coming out as the winner.

The song narrowly beat out another strong contender, BTS' (Bangtan Boys) hit song "Fake Love". Other songs which were included in the choice were J Balvin's "Mi Gente" and Zedd's "The Middle" featuring Maren Morris and Grey.

Fans of the nine-piece group were obviously happy with the results, with many taking to social media to express their happiness. Even though BTS lost the poll, many ARMY congratulated the SM Entertainment artist for their victory.

Not only fans, but Olympic Channel was also happy with the results. Through its official Twitter account, the organization said, "Take it from us. @WeAreOneEXO sure know how to rock a stadium! Their full closing ceremony performance here," adding a gif of the group performing at the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games.

But don't be sad, BTS fans. Alex Stone, the social media manager for the World Cup, also revealed that BTS had won a separate poll on Instagram. Thus, both groups' song will be played during the final game. "Great news. We also ran a poll on Instagram. Fans of both groups are winners! Enjoy the rest of the day/evening," he tweeted.

On the photo-sharing site, fans were made to choose between BTS' "Fake Love", Avicii's "Hey Brother" and K'Naan's "Waving Flag".

While this will be the seven-piece group's first time taking over an international sport event, EXO previously took the stage at the closing ceremony of PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. They wowed the crowd and viewers at home with renditions of "Growl" and "Power".
