The Lego Batman Movie star and his Arrested Development castmate Jason Bateman were passengers in the vehicle when it plowed into the back of another car near Madison Square Park in Manhattan.

Photos obtained by TMZ show the hood of the cab severely damaged, but no one was hospitalised after the accident as there were no serious injuries.

Arnett was able to continue his promotional duties for Arrested Development's new season five, but indicated he was suffering from whiplash as he appeared on breakfast show Today on Tuesday, May 22.

"I'm OK. I'm starting to feel a little bit stiff...," he said, before joking, "I can feel the lawsuit just behind my left eye...!"

Turning serious again, Will added, "It was scary."
