Brian Henson, the son of 'Labyrinth' helmer Jim Henson, is also planning a sequel to the movie, but nothing has been set in stone just yet.

AceShowbiz - David Bowie's cult movie "Labyrinth" is set to be turned into a stage musical. Filmmaker Jim Henson's film about a teenager's quest to save her baby brother from Bowie's evil character Jareth, the Goblin King is returning to theaters later this month, 32 years after its release in 1986, and the director's son Brian has revealed there are plans to develop a stage show based on the beloved film.

He also explains he and his partners are still working on a sequel to the movie, but the project is quite some way off. "I can say we are still excited about it but the process moves very slowly and very carefully," he tells Forbes. "We're still excited about the idea of a sequel, we are working on something but nothing that's close enough to say it's about to be in pre-production or anything like that."

"We are working on a theatrical adaptation of the original movie for the stage. Those are the two areas of excitement for the 'Labyrinth' property that we have. We are working on both of those but I certainly don't have a timeline for them."

"(It won't) necessarily (be for) Broadway, it could be for London's West End, but it will be a stage show, a big theatrical version," he adds. "It's very exciting."
