Fergie Slammed for Her National Anthem Performance at NBA All-Star Game: 'Worst Rendition Ever'

While some call her performance the 'worst rendition ever,' some others compare it to Marilyn Monroe's iconic breathy performance of 'Happy Birthday'.

AceShowbiz - Stacy Ferguson a.k.a Fergie had the honor to sing the National Anthem at the 2018 NBA All-Star Game, which was held at Staples Center in Los Angeles on February 18. However, it appeared that many people didn't like her rendition at all.

The 42-year-old songstress took the centercourt after The Barenaked Ladies finished performing "Oh Canada". Donning a tight black dress, Fergie delivered a sultry rendition of the National Anthem. At one point, she struggled to hit some notes, though she closed out her performance with some impressive vibrato. "Let's play some basketball!" she told the crowd after her performance.

Some players were caught on camera trying to hold back their laughter during her rendition. Draymond Green, though, failed to do it as he laughed while watching the performance.

Shortly after her performance, many took to Twitter to slam the songstress. Some even called her performance the "worst rendition ever." A Twitter user wrote, "Hands down the worst rendition of our national anthem I have ever heard! I'm sure PETA will be contacting Fergie for the hearing damage she caused the dogs and cats that heard that."

"Fergie chopped and screwed the anthem," another simply said. One other user said, "After hearing Fergie sing the National Anthem," adding a picture of a bleeding ear. "Sorry Fergie. I'm a fan but to be honest, that was horrible! Actually probably one of the worst. Not a hater... just telling it!" wrote another user.

Some others compared her performance to Marilyn Monroe's iconic breathy rendition of "Happy Birthday", which she sang for President John F. Kennedy back in 1962. A user commented, "My first guess is that Fergie drew her motivation for her national anthem 'rendition' from Marilyn Monroe signing 'Happy Birthday, Mister President.' "

Another echoed the remarks, "I've seen the national anthem performed hundreds of times but never in the key of 'Happy Birthday Mr. President' congrats @Fergie."
