Timothy, however, refuses to discuss sexual misconduct allegations against Ben and Casey Affleck, saying, 'It doesn't interest me, they know what they're doing.'

AceShowbiz - Ben Affleck's father, Timothy, believes that his son is not entirely to blame when it comes to his life-threatening alcoholism. In a new interview with Grazia, Tim says that fame has taken a major toll on both of his famous sons, Ben and Casey Affleck.

"Hollywood is a disgusting place. I think that's been a major factor in Ben's drinking," he says to the magazine. "You're kind of forced to develop a persona that is hard to shed and go home to your family. It affects your whole life. I think that's one of the dangers of the film industry."

74-year-old Tim also reveals that he had his own battle against the bottle, saying, "I was a chronic, severe alcoholic for several years. I had to recover and, happily, I did." He later assures that Ben "has always been serious about getting sober. There is no question about that. He wants life and he is working at it."

As for the reason of Ben and Jennifer Garner's 2015 split, Tim says, "It's very difficult to balance family life in the midst of global stardom. It's a hard, taxing life." Tim, who starred alongside Casey in his 2010 movie "I'm Still Here", adds, "In the world outside of the entertainment industry, marriages end all the time. It's as common as dishwater, it's nothing to dither about."

Tim, however, refuses to discuss sexual misconduct allegations against his sons. Ben was previously accused of groping MTV presenter Hilarie Burton on air, and the Batman depicter later took to Twitter to apologize. Meanwhile, Casey settled a sexual harassment case out of court back in 2010 as two female crew members of "I'm Still Here" claimed that the "Manchester by the Sea" actor behaved inapproriately toward them during the movie production.

"You'd have to ask them," says Timothy. "It doesn't interest me, they know what they're doing. They're both kind and good men. They treat women well, I can guarantee that. After 40 odd years, you know your kids."

He continues, "Both of my sons are hard workers. They have a tremendous amount of empathy, they don't forget where they came from, they're very kind and generous. Those are the qualities that I value."
